Michael Saylor, President of MicroStrategy, a leading business intelligence company and one of the largest Bitcoin holders, has issued important warning for the Bitcoin community. He revealed that his security team has removed deep-fake videos created by artificial intelligence (AI) in which he is promoting Bitcoin scams.
Saylor revealed that his team takes down about 80 fake AI-generated YouTube videos every day, but scammers continue to create more videos.
The MicroStrategy chairman expressed his concerns and warned the crypto community about fake podcasts urging users to scan barcodes and deposit Bitcoin to receive double the amount in return. These are typical fraud tactics aimed at deceiving and appropriating the assets of unwary victims.
In this context, Saylor warns that BTC holders have no risk-free way to double their Bitcoin and that MicroStrategy does not give away BTC to those who scan barcodes. He also urged them to always verify and not trust blindly.
Saylor is not the only famous cryptocurrency figure to be targeted by scammers using AI technology. In November 2023, deep-fake videos of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse advertising fake XRP giveaways appeared on social networks.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a sophisticated and rapidly expanding technology that can create realistic and convincing digital content such as photos, videos, audio, text. Although artificial intelligence has many positive and beneficial applications, it can also be used for evil purposes.
The cryptocurrency community should be aware of the potential risks posed by AI and proactively protect its holdings. Some best practices to avoid AI scams include verifying the source and authenticity of crypto-related information or offers before taking any action. Also, don’t send coins to unknown or untrusted addresses or platforms, especially if they promise unrealistic profits or rewards.
