Director of the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea, Lee Bok-hyun, is set to visit the United States and meet with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler to discuss Bitcoin ETF.
Lee Bok-hyun, Director of the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea, has announced that he will visit the United States this year and meet with the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler.
According to a local report, the visit aims to discuss the virtual asset industry, including the Bitcoin Spot ETF.

Lee revealed his plans for 2024 at the Financial Supervisory Service in Yeouido, Seoul, on February 5.
His plans include visiting financial markets in New York in the second quarter. He mentioned that during the visit, discussions will focus on South Korea’s discount methods, referencing stock market trends, and addressing issues such as the Bitcoin Spot ETF fund.
Responding to reporters’ questions, Lee stated:
“I will meet with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler this year and areas we will focus on include issues related to virtual assets and the policy of Bitcoin Spot ETF.”
Lee added that the SEC’s policies have a significant global impact, marking an important development.
Under Gensler’s leadership, the SEC has approved 11 proposed Bitcoin Spot ETFs after years of legal debates.
Lee did not provide further details about his upcoming discussion with Gensler. However, given their crucial roles, one can expect a discussion focused on clearer policies and regulations regarding cryptocurrencies.
According to analysts, the outcome of this discussion could significantly impact the development of the Crypto market in South Korea, which is predicted to achieve a revenue of $1.8 billion this year.
